7-13. Emotion / FFF from "Free For Fever"

B00000ARH7.01.MZZZZZZZ.jpgフランスのファンクロックバンド、FFFの1994年の2ndアルバムより、Emotionです。このアルバムはFFFの第一次黄金期である、と勝手に評価しています（ちなみに第二次黄金期は3rdアルバム）。1stアルバムから続く、ミクスチャーファンクへの模索も第一段階が既にここで完成しています。それをさらに発展させ、よりライトで、Jazzyな響きが加わった3rdアルバムは第二段階であり、完成形とも言えるでしょう。どちらが良いかは人によって判断が違うはずです。それほどまでに2ndと3rdは芸風が異なります。

具体的で分かりやすい3rdアルバムを踏まえた上で、抽象的で分かりにくい2ndアルバムを聴くと、彼らの「音」に対する姿勢が明確になってくるように思います。

Emotionはアルバム中でも、音像のはっきりしない、最も抽象的な曲と言えるでしょう。このぼやけた雰囲気に馴染めない人も多そうですが、よく練りこまれて作られた楽曲です。ファンキーで若干重めの作品が占める中、ジャズファンク的な軽快さも漂い、自分好み。歌詞はフランス語。はっきりしないフランス語の響きも、ぼやけ具合に拍車をかけています。
